Founding Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join a small, product-focused team as its first full-time engineering hire. You will help shape the technical direction of an early-stage insurance technology company, building AI agent systems and product capabilities that address meaningful customer needs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build and iterate on AI agent systems that power the core product.

• Own full-stack development across backend services, APIs, and frontend interfaces.

• Partner with the founding team on product decisions, balancing technical feasibility with user needs.

• Architect scalable backend systems that support AI workloads.

• Contribute to platform infrastructure as the team grows.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• At least 3 years of experience building and shipping full-stack products, with a strong backend foundation and product engineering mindset.

• Experience building AI agents or similar AI systems, ideally with AI or machine learning systems in production.

• Ability to own product decisions and deliver end-to-end work with both product and platform considerations.

• Strong technical fundamentals, with experience at an established company or an early-stage startup; startup experience can be an alternative to a traditional academic background.

• Insurance or financial services experience is helpful.

• Comfort working independently and contributing across a broad engineering scope.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary range: $150,000 to $190,000 annually, depending on experience. Equity: 1% to 3%. Visa sponsorship is not available.

LOCATION

Hybrid in New York City, with an expectation to work from the office most days and some flexibility.
