Tech Lead

ABOUT THE ROLE

Lead a team of 3 to 4 engineers at a growing B2B communications software company. This hands-on role balances backend architecture and development with coaching the team and improving its delivery.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Spend approximately half your time on architecture, development, code reviews, and important technical projects.

• Take responsibility for the team's effectiveness, technical quality, and delivery.

• Partner with Product to understand customer problems, shape solutions, define scope, and set priorities.

• Set technical direction while enabling engineers to make decisions and develop their judgment.

• Hold regular 1:1s, give actionable feedback, and support each engineer's development.

• Remove blockers, manage dependencies, and identify delivery risks early.

• Improve engineering practices and explore how AI can support the software development lifecycle.

• Contribute to hiring through technical interviews and candidate conversations.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• At least 3 years of experience in Senior or Staff Engineer roles, with recent, hands-on backend development experience.

• Substantial experience with Java or another JVM language. Kotlin and AWS experience are useful; the backend stack includes Kotlin and Quarkus.

• Experience leading architecture decisions and delivering production systems, including implementation, code reviews, and technical problem-solving.

• Experience in a hybrid Tech Lead role, project leadership, or early people leadership, with a strong record of delivery in fast-paced environments.

• A product-minded approach, clear communication, and experience using AI-assisted development tools.
