Heaviside
About this role
ABOUT HEAVISIDE INDUSTRIES
Heaviside Industries builds multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied special operations and conventional forces. While modern warfare has rapidly evolved with the proliferation of unmanned systems, hyper-precise munitions in contested environments are the future of the battlefield. Economical precision strike capabilities are critical to U.S. and allied war efforts, enabling successful defeat of enemy military assets and infrastructure. Heaviside builds precision munitions designed to operate in GPS-denied and spectrum-jammed battlefields—where traditional systems degrade or fail—without inflated prices or sacrifice to performance.
All engineering and manufacturing is conducted in-house in Heaviside’s Los Angeles, CA headquarters and Oslo, Norway office.
Heaviside is backed by Interlagos, Menlo Ventures, Flume Ventures, Cantos, Anorak Ventures, and Ravelin Ventures.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Assemble, solder and rework PCBAs, including fine-pitch SMT and through-hole components, to IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
- Build and terminate cable and wire harnesses to IPC/WHMA-A-620, from drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Perform functional, bench and acceptance testing using oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, logic analyzers and RF test equipment.
- Troubleshoot failures to the component level, document root cause and work with engineers on corrective actions.
- Support environmental and qualification testing (thermal, vibration, shock, pressure/immersion) and record results accurately.
- Build, maintain and improve test fixtures, jigs and lab equipment; keep the lab calibrated, organized and ESD-safe.
- Follow and help write work instructions, travelers and test procedures that move prototypes into repeatable production.
- Maintain build records, inventory and traceability in line with ITAR and quality requirements.

- Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams and BOMs.
- Comfort with standard lab test equipment and methodical, component-level troubleshooting.
- Clear, accurate documentation habits — build records, test data and failure reports.

- Active U.S. security clearance.
- Military electronics experience (e.g., Navy ET, Air Force avionics, Army or Marine electronics MOS).
- Experience with UAS, underwater vehicles, RF/GNSS systems, or ruggedized/potted electronics.
- Experience with environmental test chambers, vibe tables, or pressure testing.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality systems, and with basic scripting for test automation (Python).
